This seminar is part of a long-term training and cooperation project developed with the aim of raising awareness of young people about Structured Dialogue and youth participation in decision making through the active use of participatory media.
The seminar will gather 32 youth leaders from Lithuania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Belgium French speaking community to achieve the following objectives: • To create space for participants to share their realities of using media for active participation • To learn new ways, methods and tools of using media for participation • To prepare participants for multiplying their learning experience in their organisation and communities [with other young people] • To promote Structured Dialogue and other Youth in Action opportunities for youth participation • To create opportunities for contact making and future cooperation During the seminar participants will get to know other young people; will explore topics such as participation, Structured Dialogue with young people and participatory media; will get involved in creating media products; will discover local and European environments in Brussels; will have an opportunity to meet decision makers (e.g. local authorities, members of the European Parliament); will make contacts for future cooperation; will exchange ideas with media experts; will enjoy intercultural learning experience. The seminar is addressed to youth leaders aged (16)18-30 involved in youth participatory projects and activities. Priority will be given to young people who are already involved in national developments of this project. It is expected that participants should take a peer leader’s role by organizing activities with other young people after the seminar. Participants should be able to work and communicate in English. The seminar will offer non-formal learning opportunities for participants to: • Better understand and be informed about how they can get involved in dialogue with decision-makers; • Discover opportunities for young people to take part in Youth in Action projects • Learn how they can use media to participate and influence decisions • Develop confidence to communicate with people from public institutions • Learn to practice active participation • Improve in foreign languages • Discover diversity and fall in love

Costs

This project is financed by the Youth in Action Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the NAs or SALTO involved in this project. Please contact your NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
