Mastering Attention in a Distracted World – International Train-the-Trainer Course

Training Course

14-21 December 2026 | Hotel Srebrno Jezero Šetalačka 5 12220 Veliko Gradište (Silver Lake) , Serbia

Ready to reclaim your focus and rethink learning? Join our international Train-the-Trainer course in Serbia! Explore attention, distraction and inclusive education through hands-on challenges, creative methods and peer exchange.

The training course is part of Mastering Attention in a Distracted World (MADW), an Erasmus+ Small-scale Partnership in Adult Education (KA210-ADU).

The project is implemented by:

  • Fahrten-Ferne-Abenteuer / Abenteuerzentrum Berlin – Germany (coordinator)
  • Novotarium – Serbia
  • Asociatia Babilon Travel – Romania

MADW addresses the growing challenges of maintaining attention and creating effective learning environments in a world characterised by constant information, digital stimuli and competing demands.

The project aims to develop practical, inclusive and transferable approaches that help adult educators strengthen attention-related competences in their educational practice.

The international training course will contribute to the development and testing of methods and resources for an Educator Toolkit and an Adult Learner Workbook.

What Will We Explore?

Throughout the training, we will address questions such as:

  • How does attention work, and what influences our ability to concentrate?
  • What happens when we try to manage several tasks simultaneously?
  • How do digital environments, smartphones and everyday habits influence our attention?
  • How can we recognise and reduce distractions in learning environments?
  • What strategies help us regain focus and manage cognitive overload?
  • How can educators support learners with different attention needs and learning preferences?
  • How can we design learning experiences that encourage engagement, participation and meaningful learning?
  • How can attention-related methods be adapted and transferred into our own educational practice?

Our Learning Approach

The training follows the principles of non-formal and experiential education.

Participants will learn through a combination of:

  • Interactive exercises and practical challenges
  • Experiential learning and reflection
  • Small-group activities and collaborative tasks
  • Peer exchange and sharing of professional experiences
  • Creative methods and practical experimentation
  • Development and facilitation of participants' own sessions
  • Reflection on the transfer of learning into everyday educational practice
  • Rather than focusing only on theoretical knowledge, the course invites participants to experience different aspects of attention themselves and explore how these experiences can inform their work as educators and facilitators.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will have had the opportunity to:

  • Develop a better understanding of attention, distraction and cognitive overload in learning contexts.
  • Reflect on their own attention habits and the factors influencing their ability to focus.
  • Experience and evaluate practical methods for strengthening attention and managing distractions.
  • Explore inclusive approaches that respond to different learners' needs.
  • Exchange educational practices and experiences with colleagues from different countries.
  • Design, adapt and facilitate attention-related learning activities.
  • Develop ideas for applying and testing the methods in their own professional contexts.

Who Can Participate?

We are looking for adult educators, trainers, facilitators and other educational professionals who are interested in attention, learning processes and inclusive educational practice.

The training is particularly relevant for people who:

  • Work with adult learners in formal or non-formal educational settings.
  • Facilitate workshops, training courses or other group-learning activities.
  • Are interested in attention, distraction and their impact on learning.
  • Want to develop practical methods for creating more focused and inclusive learning environments.
  • Are willing to actively participate in experiential activities and group processes.
  • Are interested in exchanging methods and professional experiences internationally.
  • Are motivated to adapt, test and share approaches within their own educational practice.
  • Previous expertise in attention research or cognitive science is not required.
  • Participants should be comfortable working in English. Perfect English is not necessary; openness, curiosity and willingness to participate are more important.

What Is Expected from Participants?

This is an interactive Train-the-Trainer course, and participants are expected to contribute actively to the learning process.

Participants should be willing to:

  • Take part in the full training programme.
  • Share relevant experiences and perspectives from their educational practice.
  • Engage in practical activities, group work and reflection.
  • Collaborate with others in developing and facilitating learning sessions.
  • Explore how the methods can be transferred into their own professional contexts.
  • Contribute to the testing, adaptation and documentation of relevant methods after the training, as part of the project's follow-up activities.

Inclusion and Accessibility

We aim to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that recognises different learning needs, experiences and backgrounds.

Participants are encouraged to communicate any accessibility requirements or specific support needs during the application and preparation process so that suitable arrangements can be discussed.

Application and Selection

Application deadline: End of October 2026

Applications will be reviewed by the project partners, taking into account applicants' motivation, professional background, interest in the topic and potential to transfer the learning into their educational practice.

Selected participants will be informed by 15 November 2026.

Further practical information and preparation instructions will be shared with selected participants.
