Making of a European Sports network international seminar

Seminar

28-29 June 2014 | Sofia, Bulgaria

Making of a European Sports network international seminar
Sport has both a social and educational function and the power of gathering people. Its objectives and values are team spirit, solidarity, tolerance and fair play. The present proposal intends to highlight that life and sport share the same rules (everyone deserves to feel the rush, and the exhilaration - to share in the sense of belonging, of contributing, of standing out, of camaraderie, of working together; the sense of achieving, the joy of winning and the sore disappointment of losing. Everyone deserves the benefit of physical strength, the burst of endorphins, the focus, the meditation, and the relief) and to raise public awareness about the effective ways of promoting sport at municipal level. The overall objective of this project is to promote the development of sustainable youth sport network and exchange of best practices by using ball sport (five-a-side football Football, Basket and mini basket, Handball, Volleyball, Beach volley, Rugby, Baseball, softball, Bowling, Golf and mini golf, tennis and ping pong) as a catalyst for transmitting life skills to children and youth in order to reduce violence and other social ills. The children can get off the streets, learn about rules and fair-play and practice conflict resolution without violence. Specific objectives: • To encourage the involvement of public bodies at regional or local level from 8 different partner cities active in the youth sector in European youth and non-formal education activities; • To support their capacity building as bodies active in the youth field providing non-formal education opportunities to young people and youth workers; • To promote healthy behaviours, social inclusion and active participation of young people through the promotion of the practice of grassroots sport and outdoor activities. • To develop a European Sports network, by signing of a sport agreement during the final meeting and dissemination of findings and promotion of results on social networks.
