Training course for European Solidarity Corps Volunteering project organisers to strengthen the learning dimension in their activities through reflection and Youthpass

What is this course about?

“Learning in Volunteering projects” is a training course designed to assist practitioners active in
European Solidarity Corps Volunteering projects. The primary aim of the course is to enhance the
quality of volunteering projects, through strengthening the learning dimension and emphasizing
the significance of reflection and documentation of learning outcomes using Youthpass.


The specific objectives of the course are to:
- Explore the learning value of the Volunteering projects.
- Facilitate the exchange of good practices for supporting volunteers’ learning processes.
- Try out tools and methods for supporting reflection on learning and writing of self-
assessment of learning outcomes.
- Strengthen the role of the mentors in fostering a high-quality learning experience within
these projects.
- Introduce Youthpass as a supportive instrument throughout the participation in the
European Solidarity Corps volunteering project.


The target audience for this training course includes mentors, project coordinators, representatives of organizations that host European Solidarity Corps volunteers, youth workers and individuals actively engaged in the learning process during a volunteering project.


The training course will take place in-person in Athens, Greece, with the following preliminary
programme. Note: The programme is draft and is still subject to change.
Please note that 13.05 and 17.05 are travel dates and 14.05, 15.05 and 16.05 are full working days.

13.05.24:
Until 19:00: Arrival of participants during the day
20:00-21:30: Welcoming and getting-to-know
14.05.24:
09:30-13:00 Mapping the experiences and roles among the participants
14:30-18:30 Exploring learning and what supports and conditions learning in Volunteering projects

15.04.24:
09:30-13:00: Defining dynamics of individual and group learning and competences needed to support it
14:30-18:30: Exchanging good practices and trying out hands-on tools and methods useful in
Volunteering projects
16.05.24:
09:30-13:00: Continued reflection on the conditions needed to support learning
14:30-18:30: Developing future scenarios and evaluation
19:30-22:00: Common dinner in Athens
17.04.24: Departure of participants


The participants will be hosted in a hotel in a central location in Athens in double rooms.
Accommodation and boarding (three meals per day) during the activity dates will be covered by theorganisers in the venue. Travel expenses and eventual visa costs will be covered by the sending National Agencies.

Costs

Participation fee

This project is financed by the Hellenic National Agency of Erasmus+/ Youth and European Solidarity Corps. Participation fees may apply based on your country of residence. Please contact your National Agency  to learn more about the participation fee for participants from your country.

Accommodation and food

Hellenic National Agency will organise the accommodation in double rooms and cover the costs for accommodation and food.

Travel reimbursement

Please contact your NA or SALTO in order to know whether they would support your travel costs. If yes, after being selected, get in touch with your NA or SALTO again to learn more about the overall procedure to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity. Read more about Youthpass:
