Training Course

16-20 June 2026 | Luxembourg, Luxembourg

A transformative training empowering youth workers to foster mental health and well-being. Gain tools, share insights & build resilience through experiential learning in a supportive and brave space

Description

International youth exchanges offer powerful learning experiences, but they also come with responsibilities related to participants’ wellbeing, mental health, and safety. Youth workers and group leaders play a key role in creating supportive environments, preventing crises, and responding effectively when challenges arise.

This training course is designed for experienced youth workers, organisers, and group leaders involved in Erasmus+ KA1 youth exchanges who wish to strengthen their competences in ensuring participant wellbeing and safety during international mobility activities.

The programme combines theoretical input, practical simulations, peer learning, and reflection. Participants will explore mental health and wellbeing in youth mobility contexts, develop practical strategies for crisis prevention and response, practice assertive communication, and reflect on their own wellbeing as professionals. Special attention is given to group building, holding safe and inclusive spaces, and linking wellbeing practices to the overall quality of youth exchange projects.

Objectives of the training

  • Strengthen youth workers’ capacity to ensure wellbeing and safety in international youth exchanges
  • Equip organisers and group leaders with practical tools for mental health support and crisis management
  • Develop skills in assertive, empathetic communication in intercultural group settings
  • Support sustainable youth work practices through reflection, self-care, and professional resilience

Structure of the programme (overview)

Day 1: Foundations of wellbeing and safety in youth exchanges; group building and context setting

Day 2: Crisis management, assertive communication, and practical simulations

Day 3: Quality, integration, reflection, and future planning in KA1 projects
