International Seminar “Recognition of Non-Formal Learning in Youth Sector”

Seminar

20-23 May 2025 | Tbilisi, Georgia

Seminar on recognizing non-formal and informal learning in the youth sector, bringing together experts from the EU and Eastern Partnership countries. It aims to share best practices, raise awareness and inspire peer learning and action.

Aim:

  • to increase the recognition of non-formal learning in the youth sector

Objectives:

  • to share practices and strategies of the recognition of non-formal learning in the youth field in EU and EaP countries;
  • to raise the awareness and understanding of what non-formal learning in youth work means, what it can achieve, and what recognition can mean;
  • to inform about the related developments at the European level (Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps, EU4Youth);
  • to encourage peer–learning and inspire participants to take initiatives after the seminar

Target group:-

The seminar will gather 40 participants from EU and EaP countries from various backgrounds: practitioners, youth organisations, researchers and policy-makers such as representatives of the European institutions and of national governments.

Content and background:

The international seminar “Recognition of Non-Formal Learning in Youth Sector” is built on the following pillars: sharing, reflecting, and developing further actions. You will learn about inspiring examples of recognition actions in the EaP countries and beyond, share and discuss the national realities, and develop future strategies to enhance the recognition of youth work. The context of this seminar is supported by the Youthpass Strategy, the handbook “Unlocking Doors to Recognition” (currently under revision), and the work done within the EU4Youth programme to enhance the validation of competences acquired in the youth field in the EaP countries.
