Training Course
12-17 June 2025 | Malaga, Spain
This training course provides an opportunity to explore intercultural learning in youth work settings, equipping youth workers with the skills and knowledge to create inclusive, reflective, and impactful learning environments for young people. Through non-formal education methods and experiential learning, the training will introduce participants to key concepts such as stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination, while introducing them to theories and models of intercultural learning. Training will also focus on the facilitation and design of educational processes, enabling participants to understand the competencies and roles involved in supporting intercultural learning.
The training goes beyond theoretical input by involving participants in interactive exercises, group discussions, and hands-on workshops aimed at building practical skills for developing intercultural learning activities. Special attention will be given to the creation of local-level initiatives that promote inclusion, diversity, and active engagement within communities. By the end of the course, participants will have deepened their understanding of intercultural learning, developed concrete action plans, and gained tools and strategies to implement meaningful youth work activities that celebrate diversity and foster mutual understanding.
The training course is developed in line with Youth Goal 3: Inclusive Societies and contributes to:
The training course will be based on non-formal education methods and experiential learning approaches. The program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to understand intercultural learning, tackle stereotypes and discrimination, and support intercultural educational practices in youth work.
The first days of the training are dedicated to building a safe and inclusive learning space, fostering trust among participants, and establishing a strong learning cohesion. These introductory sessions will include activities that explore the foundations of intercultural learning, reflect on personal and societal biases, and highlight the role of intercultural learning in youth work. As the training progresses, participants will deepen their understanding of intercultural learning theories and models, develop facilitation skills, and explore educational methods and tools that foster meaningful intercultural dialogue and engagement among young people.
In the later stages of the training, participants will focus on designing local-level youth work activities that promote intercultural learning in their communities. They will apply experiential learning principles to create inclusive and reflective learning experiences, address challenges to participation, and develop youth-friendly approaches to diversity and mutual understanding.
On the final day, participants will present their local activity concepts, which they can later implement within their youth work settings. The course will conclude with a reflection process, evaluation of learning outcomes, and recognition of achievements through the Youthpass ceremony.
