The project aims to explore intercultural learning, how it is happening in international groups and how to make it more interesting and diverse, address deeper aspects of culture, cultural aspect of conflicts in international groups, learning and other.
International volunteer projects – workcamps, youth exchanges and other activities – present a unique mix of volunteer work, international participants coming from all over the world, living and doing things together as a family, learning, debating, discussing, exchanging, cooking, travelling, having camp fires... This creates special cultural context for the group – possibility to understand own culture and personality through culture of the others, see it in a new way. The project aims to explore intercultural learning, how it is happening in international groups and how to make it more interesting and diverse, touching deeper aspects of culture, cultural aspect of conflicts in international groups, connect cultural exchange with other learning aspects and general project theme; and develop new methods for intercultural learning and exchange to be used in different types of int. youth and volunteer activities. The project is organized by SCI International Secretariat and SVIT-Ukraine with support of Youth in Action programme of the European Union. The program of the training will cover following issues: fresh look on intercultural evening conflicts in the group, cultural background in conflict resolution impact of culture on group dynamics study components in international groups – addressing such issues as human rights, racism, social inclusion, equality, volunteering and other in international context creating and practicing activities and methods for intercultural learning in international youth and volunteer projects Participants profile: active volunteers, leaders of workcamps and international youth exchanges, volunteers with experience of organizing activities with international group or working with long-term foreign volunteers (EVS and other).

Interregional voluntary organization "SVIT-Ukraine" was established in autumn 2000 as working group on volunteering, and officially registered in November 2005 as local non profit organization, which is created for promotion, support and development of volunteering in Ukraine. The main principles of "SVIT-Ukraine" are: self-governance, openness, legality, transparency, democracy, tolerance, activism and creative initiative of its members, cooperation with state bodies, local authorities and public organizations in Ukraine and abroad. Organisation is active on the territory of Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Lugansk, Kharkov and Donetsk regions of Ukraine and has partners all over the country. Our main activity is organization of international volunteer projects on environment and sustainable lifestyle, social, cultural topics, history and remembrance, as well as work with disadvantaged children. SVIT-Ukraine has organized over 70 international volunteer projects since its founding, and hosts about 200 volunteers in its projects every year. About 200-250 young Ukrainians take part to international volunteer projects abroad organized by our partners. We also organize seminars, workshops and trainings to inform young people about volunteering and volunteer projects, empower young activists with leadership, project management, fundraising skills and other skills needed for effective work and realization of volunteer activities, involve new partners at local level and promote volunteering as a tool to solve local problems with efforts of community members. SVIT organizes local volunteer actions and activities to promote volunteering, sustainable lifestyle and to assist socially vulnerable people. Our hosting projects for long-term volunteers (EVS) include activities on human rights education, volunteering, art and culture, sustainable lifestyle and social topics.

Costs

All costs concerning meals and accommodation as well as the program and materials will be fully covered for the whole duration of the training. The participation fee for participants from Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine and Moldova is 25 Euros, for Bulgaria and Croatia countries is 30 Euro, and for UK, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Italy is – 35 Euro. Travel costs will be reimbursed 70%. Please consider impact at environment, while planning your travel.
