Integration of Young Refugees

Training Course

18-24 May 2025 | European Youth Center Budapest, Hungary

The study session equips youth workers with techniques to support young migrants and refugees in their cohesion through non-formal education

The study session equips youth workers with techniques to support young migrants and refugees in their cohesion through non-formal education grounded in a human rights approach, while also enhancing their ability to help young migrants and refugees develop soft skills and engage in society.

Objectives :

  • Enhance the capacity of youth workers to navigate cultural differences with confidence and competence while deepening their understanding of the various legal refugee statuses across Council of Europe (CoE) member states. This includes building a shared understanding of terminology and recognizing how different rules apply in different national contexts.
  • Equip youth workers to provide career guidance and planning services tailored to the needs of young migrants and refugees by incorporating successful, real-world examples of effective approaches.
  • Strengthen youth workers' ability to engage in advocacy, awareness-raising, and partnership-building through a "rights for all" approach, ensuring inclusive and impactful communication and collaboration.
  • Familiarize youth workers with a broad range of labour market integration measures, including programmes and initiatives led by civil society, private actors, and government institutions, by showcasing diverse examples of effective support systems.
  • Facilitate the exchange of good practices on refugee and migrant integration among CoE member states, drawing from concrete examples of successful strategies and initiatives.
  • Foster cooperation among professionals and organizations to create networks that enhance access to rights for young refugees through collaborative integration strategies.
  • Promote youth work as a key tool for inclusion and active citizenship, while strengthening knowledge of the Council of Europe's resources and frameworks supporting integration processes.
