Human Rewilding Communities

Seminar

10-19 October 2024 | Zakrzewo, Linia, Poland

A Networking and Community Building Event for youth workers and educators interested in nature-based youth work. The event is built on 4 main pillars: Community Building; Wild Food; Human Rewilding; Networking and Project Development.

Target groups

  • organisations that work nature based or have the intention to start working nature based and are working with youth and young adults;
  • the staff, youth workers, educators, facilitators, trainers, coaches, and other relevant representatives active within these organisations;
  • members of the  partner organisations networks and individuals in these networks that could benefit from the project and who can give back to their own organisation or network after participating in this project;
  • individual youth workers, youth educators and youth leaders that work nature based or are interested to start working nature based.

Methodology

The educational programme we present to participants is based on the methodology of non-formal education and its main principles. We include a variety of methods of which many take place outdoors and are altered in a way to fit our nature based approach.

Objectives

  • provide quality time to gather, network and be in community in nature;
  • provide opportunities to experience and (re)learn about nature and human rewilding;
  • share best practices that are nature based and suitable for our environment;
  • foster processes of well-being, growing respect for nature and (re)introducing the regenerative power of nature;
  • present wild foraging, fire making and wild cooking as attractive tools of generating a sense of community;
  • rebuild strong connections of human beings being part of nature based on trust, understanding and willingness to give back;
  • cultivate practical, green skills and matching attitudes allowing educators and youth workers to take direct action;
  • inspire, encourage and raise the quality and amount of nature based practises in youth work.

The program consists of:

  • Community building activities, such as sharing circles and creating a group culture;
  • Botanical walks and workshops on green skills, such as wild cooking, natural preservation and wild cosmetics;
  • Connecting with nature activities, including hikes, meditation and forest theatre;
  • Open Space for activities proposed by participants;
  • Sessions for networking and project development;
  • Daily group activities, such as collecting fire wood, fire making, cooking dinner outside, collection of learnings and contributing to a toolkit;
  • Daily reflection groups.
