Healthy Connections: Build a Health Festival in Kozani

Training Course

1-16 November 2026 | Kozani, Greece

Healthy Connections within Society brings six young volunteers to Kozani, Greece, from 1–16 November 2026 to create a public health festival for World Diabetes Day.

From 1–16 November 2026, six young volunteers will come together in Kozani, Greece, for Healthy Connections within Society, an intensive European Solidarity Corps volunteering project with one shared goal: to create a public health festival for World Diabetes Day on 14 November.

Rather than joining a ready-made event, participants will build the festival from the ground up. Together, they will explore local needs, develop the concept, design activities and communications, connect with community organisations, manage practical preparations and finally deliver the festival to the public. The project combines health awareness with creativity, teamwork and hands-on community engagement.

The six volunteer roles cover social media and communications, graphic design, video production, health and wellbeing facilitation, community and inclusion, and sport and wellbeing. Each participant will have an area of responsibility while contributing to the wider work of the team.

Although World Diabetes Day provides the starting point, the festival can address health more broadly, including physical and mental wellbeing, movement, nutrition, prevention, inclusion, health inequalities, stigma and social connection. The final programme will be shaped by the volunteers themselves and may include workshops, sport and movement, awareness activities, conversations, creative activities and community challenges.

Participants will receive support through the European Solidarity Corps, including accommodation, food support, eligible travel costs, pocket money, insurance, mentoring, training and Youthpass. Applicants should be 18–30 years old, eligible for the European Solidarity Corps, able to communicate in basic English and available for the full project period. Professional experience is not essential—motivation, collaboration and willingness to contribute matter most.

In just two weeks, the team will transform ideas into a real public event—gaining practical experience in communication, project management, community engagement, international teamwork and event delivery while creating something meaningful for the people of Kozani.
