Green Compass

Training Course

4-12 October 2025 | Bansko, Bulgaria

Green Compass is a hands-on training course set in Bulgaria’s mountain resort, Bansko. Through outdoor learning, study visits, and the GreenComp framework, participants will explore how to bring sustainability to life in their youth work.

Green Compass is an Erasmus+ project that empowers youth workers to integrate sustainability into their everyday practice.

The training uses the European sustainability competence framework (GreenComp) to guide youth workers in developing knowledge, skills, and attitudes that inspire young people to engage with sustainability issues in meaningful ways.

Participants will take part in interactive workshops, outdoor learning in nature, and study visits to local sustainable businesses and initiatives in the Bansko region. These experiences will connect theory with practice and provide inspiration for real-world applications in their own communities.

Green Compass is grounded in experiential learning and non-formal education. The training will combine:

  • Interactive workshops exploring the 12 GreenComp competences
  • Group work to co-create a Toolkit of methods for sustainability education
  • Reflection and peer learning sessions
  • Outdoor activities in nature to connect theory with real-world examples
  • Study visits to sustainable businesses and initiatives

The ideal participant would be:

  • 20+ years old resident of Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, or the Netherlands
  • Youth worker (experienced and newcomers), educator, trainer, community leader, or a volunteer engaged in youth work, motivated to integrate sustainability into their work
  • Committed to participating fully in the whole program and the follow-up
  • Able to freely communicate in English

Priority will be given to participants with fewer opportunities, who face conditions that make participation in learning opportunities difficult or unaffordable.
