Graphic facilitation for better communication

Training Course

10-19 July 2015 | 2 Mai, Mangalia, Romania

This TC is focused on improving the visual and verbal communication skills of youth workers. The competences they will develop during this course will help them to better engage with audiences of young people during training sessions and presentations.
'Graphic Facilitation for Better Communication' is a solution to the problem, "Youth workers lack the visual methods to capture and hold the attention of young people during training sessions and presentations." In order to solve this problem, we will work together as a group to achieve following objectives: 1. Improve our knowledge of the types of communication, learning styles and education (formal, non-formal and informal). 2. Understand and improve our graphic facilitation skills and be more open to the use of visual methods during our youth work. 3. Develop attitudes of acceptance towards disadvantaged groups, develop the ability to work in varied groups of young people and to adapt to changing work situations. We want this project to have a major impact on those who attend. The participants will learn how to use visual methods to attract the attention of volunteers, how to market their activities in more interesting ways, as well as how to actively involve schools from Mangalia in the project. We are trying to teach youth workers how to be more creative in their use of visual methods, but during the week, we will also provide these methods to teachers from Mangalia (who are often restricted by teaching methods that fail to capture the attention of students). At the end of 'Graphic Facilitation for Better Communication' the 24 participants will make a video to show how basic graphics such as tables, charts, graphs and illustrations can be made more interesting to facilitate better communication. The participants will also contribute to a blog that will promote these ideas. This project is implemented by Devision Association with the support of five partners: • Impact Videos (United Kingdom), • L'Isola che non c'è (Italy), • Lithuanian Children and Youth Center (LCYC), • Orenda Foundation (Bulgaria), • and Ticket 2 Europe (Spain).
