GAMIFICA(C)TION IN YOUTH WORK

Training Course

26 February - 6 March 2019 | Ivancice, Czech Republic

Game design and Game facilitation for youth workers and educators.

Gamification is the introduction of game elements to transform an activity into a game-like process and Game Based Learning refers to the application of games for learning purposes, having defined objectives, in an educational context.

The aim of "GAMIFICA(C)TION IN YOUTH WORK" is to develop youth workers and educator's competences in Game design and Game facilitation for educational purposes.

The target group we aim to offer this experience to are educators and youth workers actively working with youngsters on a regular basis. There is not age limit.

By participating in this project, youth workers and educators will acquire the skills to design, facilitate and debrief Educational Games and test them on spot, getting feedback to get support in their future applicability.

“GAMIFICA(C)TION IN YOUTH WORK” is a project that contains 2 phases.

-1st phase: The Training Course that will take place in Ivancice (Czech Republic) during 8 days, from 26/02/2019 to 6/03/2019 (including 2 travel days) and is focused on acquiring knowledge, basic fundamentals and facilitation skills on educational games. It will gather 27 participants coming from 9 different countries: Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Romania and Spain. The hosting organization is Středisko volného času Ivančice, the other partners involved act as sending, supporting and multiplier organizations.

-The 2nd phase: Local Action Phase, which is a 3 months Action Phase where participants put in action in their local organisations the gained knowledge and learned exercises and dynamics.

The methodology is based on non-formal education and experiential learning, being highly participatory and interactive.

The flow of the program is inspired in the Kolb cycle of Experiential Learning: experience, reflection, conceptualization and applicability. Each participant will be the creator of its own experience, guided by the facilitators and supported by the group. The self-directed individual learning process will take place in a safe space and in a team-oriented and group-supported environment.
