Training Course

27 November - 2 December 2023 | Hyvärilä youth centre, Lomatie 12, 75500 Nurmes, Finland

This training dives into a topic of using game-based activities in educational purposes. It will provide youth workers with game based tools and experiences on how these tools can be adapted to their working life.

This Training Course is for:

  • People involved in youth work: youth workers, educators, teachers, social workers, project leaders, volunteers and students aiming for to work in the youth work sector who have a pronounced interest (no experience needed) in game based activities, reflection and cooperation in the field of youth work.
  • Participants who are willing to be fully committed to the content and experience of this training course. This project is NOT a youth exchange but is meant as a serious and in-depth learning experience. Therefore we will give priority to participants who truly want to experience this course as an investment in their personal and professional life.

Within this training course we will:

  • Support participants to become more aware of the game-based activities and support the participants to dive deeper in to the world of games in educational purposes.
  • Provide youth workers with game based tools and experiences how these tools can be adapted totheir working life.
  • Provide youth workers with game based tools and methods to develop their own competences, skills and talents that are useful in their professional mission.
  • Create an intercultural exchange opportunity to discuss topics such as mental health, personal development and the use of educational games
  • Discover Erasmus+ program as a tool of addressing important issues and opportunities in society.

Accommodation and food

Accommodation, food and program activities are co-financed by the Erasmus+ youth in action programme. No contributions from participants required.

Accommodation in youth hostel in gender-based shared rooms: 2 persons per room. Showers and toilets are shared. There is free wi-fi on the territory of the youth centre.

Meals are served at the Hyvärilä youth centre restaurant, ”buffet” style. Vegan and vegeterian options available.

Travel reimbursement

Travel reimbursement according to the Erasmus+ funding rules, based on travel distance. 

Travel to the Helsinki airport, and take a train to Nurmes train station (the ride is 7 hours long). If your flight arrives in the afternoon, you will have to spend a night in Helsinki, since trains to Nurmes go twice a day: around 07:00 in the morning, and 13:20 in the afternoon. Nurmes is remotely located, which can make your travel longer, with overnight stay in Helsinki on your way to and from the activity. 

Maximum reimbursement for travels between

0 and 99KM: 23€;

between 100 and 499 KM: 180€ (210€ “Green travel”);

between 500 and 1 999 KM: 275€ (320€ “Green travel”);

between 2 000 and 2 999 KM:  360€ (410€ “Green travel”);

between 3 000 and 3 999 KM: 530€ (610€ “Green travel”);

between 4 000 and 7 999: 820€ per participant.

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity. Read more about Youthpass:
