_________________________________________________________

In this online training course, you will learn all the basics you need to organize and apply for a grant for youth exchanges in Erasmus+ (Youth), with a clear, priority focus on projects concretely involving young people from the very beginning of the process. In this activity, we concentrate on youth-adult pairings: 1 experienced adult leader + 1 or more young people (13-18 year-olds).

To support the online learning process, all participants will be sent an offline package with support materials (by postal service). This postal box contains a set of educational playcards – the EYE cards- to support project building, intercultural learning and can be used efficiently during future youth exchanges.

General Description

The aim of the training course is to offer an international learning experience to practitioners active in the youth work field, enabling them to develop their competencies in setting up quality Youth Exchange projects.

The training is built on the creation of a quality basis in youth exchanges. It also provides the space to develop concrete project ideas amongst quality partnerships, with the aim of submitting application proposals for the future Erasmus+ (Youth) deadlines. In light of the Covid-19 experience, this particular course will be delivered online and will explore the opportunities and challenges of youth mobility now and in the future. The residential ‘EYE Opener’ training course has been renamed and reorganized as the online ‘EYE Liner’.

Objectives:

  • to provide information on Erasmus+ (Youth) youth exchanges
  • to provide a group learning experience in the process of setting up a youth exchange project
  • to develop basic competencies (skills, knowledge & attitudes) to organize a youth exchange
  • to understand non-formal learning and young people’s participation in learning
  • to explore the role of a group leader in young people’s learning process
  • to enhance the active participation of young people in the planning of youth exchanges

The fact that young people can take part in the training offers an entirely new dynamic to the process. Young people develop a first-hand understanding of project building, through simulated youth exchange activity, and the cooperation and partnership between youth leaders and young people deepen.

Some tasks are done in national groups and some in international partnership groups. A key methodological feature is enabling young people and youth leaders to work in separate groups, at times, and then bringing the groups together to share learning and ideas; in this process young people are encouraged to take the lead, thereby promoting participation and empowerment. The training provides evidence of young people’s competencies in project planning, independent of youth leaders.

Programme:

This training is a learning-by-doing experience, built on a simulation exercise, interspersed with workshops, info sessions and activities to enrich the group dynamics, ending with a

Youthpass-focused evaluation. The training will comprise a framework of planned plenary sessions, involving all participants, alongside a parallel process of smaller group work, designed to deliver the training objectives in a flexible youth-centered format.

The overall programmed timetable is as follows

Friday 01/04: 18h00-20h00 CET

Saturday 02/04: 10h00-12h00 & 13h00-14h30 CET
