We had a study visit in Israel in a kibbutz and on an ecological educational farm where we learned about communities, mentoring and non-formal education through volunteer work. The second part was a training course that gave us new perspectives and methodologies for mentoring and non-formal education focusing on creating connection. Some of the participants attended both programs, this ensured continuity. In-between the program elements the participants continued to work in the field of non-formal education, and they shared with the community of participants and followers of the project their results and insights (see: https://www.facebook.com/expandingroutes/ ). About the organizers Connecting routes is an informal group of young people from the Netherlands, Israel and Hungary. We came together through the passion for non-formal learning and constant development in youth work. We all have experience in education, personal development, mentoring and coaching and in organizing international projects. We believe in constant personal and professional growth and the power of learning from and with each other in intercultural groups. This is what we represent in our project of Expanding Routes as well. About the location The accommodation will be in Groove Hostel, in the center of Budapest. There is one 4-bedded a 6-bedded room, and two with 8 beds in it. We rent the whole hostel, so there will be 4-5 people in each room. Breakfast and sometimes dinner will be made by the group at the accommodation, and we will eat lunch in a simple restaurant close to the conference place. The program will be in another location, approximately 20 minutes by foot from the accommodation.
