Study Visit
26 April - 1 May 2025 | Europäische Akademie Berlin, Germany
“Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.”
— Maya Angelou
Still today, women* in European societies remain unequal and underrepresented in many areas. Whether in politics, science, or leadership positions in business—there is still much work to be done to achieve true equality. Women’s achievements and challenges often remain invisible to the larger public, making it even more crucial to create spaces that amplify their voices.
This is where Europe is Female comes in. We aim to create a safer and collaborative space where young women, alongside youth workers, youth leaders, and trainers, come together to learn, share experiences, and use creative approaches to explore and express their perspectives on gender equality. Through storytelling, visual narratives, performance, and other artistic methods, participants transform their personal experiences into powerful statements that reach broader audiences.
About the Project
Europe is Female is a project dedicated to empowering women* from Germany, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. It provides a platform to share diverse perspectives on gender equality and women’s visibility in society.
Through three co-creation workshops, participants engage in creativity-driven methods to explore equality, participation, and female role models. Each workshop introduces a different artistic and expressive approach, guided by local female creatives, allowing participants to shape their insights into compelling narratives. Beyond the workshops, participants engage in cultural exchanges, explore the host cities, and deepen their learning through dialogue. They then curate public presentations and exhibitions, sharing their perspectives in ways that spark awareness and discussion.
Co-Creation Seminars
The co-creation seminars bring together 18 participants from three different countries, creating a collaborative space for artistic and intellectual exchange. Participants explore gender (in)equality, visibility, and representation—reflecting on both historical and contemporary perspectives to understand the challenges and solutions for a more just society.
With guidance from local female creatives, participants develop expressive projects inspired by their learnings. Each seminar focuses on a different creative discipline, allowing for both individual and group work. The core themes of each workshop are chosen collectively, ensuring a participatory approach driven by the participants' interests and experiences.
Project Structure
The program consists of three co-creation seminars (including travel days), each hosted in a different country:
Berlin, Germany: April 26 – May 1, 2025
Prague, Czech Republic: June 24 – June 29, 2025
Gothenburg, Sweden: September 28 – October 3, 2025
Each seminar includes:
✔ Topic Introductions – Discussions on gender equality, women’s visibility, and role models, incorporating intersectional perspectives.
✔ Creative Exploration with Local Experts, Artists & Facilitators – Hands-on sessions using storytelling, visual arts, performance, writing, and other expressive tools.
✔ Space for Dialogue & Reflection – A safe, inclusive environment for participants to share experiences, exchange ideas, and build solidarity.
The seminars span four full days, with approximately six hours of structured activities per day. The program balances intensive learning with free time for rest, socializing, and exploring the host cities.
