Mentoring plays a crucial role in ensuring meaningful and high-quality ESC volunteering experiences. Mentors are often the first line of support for volunteers facing emotional and psychological challenges. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen mentors’ competences in understanding and supporting volunteers’ mental and emotional well-being.
This training aims to provide a safe learning space to explore mental health topics in the context of volunteering, develop practical support skills, and exchange experiences with peers from different countries.
Objectives
Methods and methodology
The training is based on non-formal education methods and experiential learning. It combines theory, reflection, and practical skill-building.
Day 1: Group building & basics of mental health in volunteering
Day 2: Understanding stress and coping mechanisms
Day 3: Supporting volunteers in distress & mentor self-care
Day 4: Practical tools, reflection, and evaluation
