EGL study visit in Croatia: Local youth policy meets local youth work

Study Visit

24-28 April 2022 | Croatia

The study visit is an opportunity to learn about municipal youth work practices in the coastal part of Croatia and how local youth policy helps supporting it. Join to explore and learn professional practices and the ways youth work can be developed.

Study visit “Local youth policy meets local youth work” will be organized from 24th until 28th April in Croatia for 15 representatives of local authorities and their civil society partners. Participants of the study visit will get a chance to visit four Croatian local communities situated in Kvarner and Istria, namely Rijeka, Pazin, Medulin and Labin and explore their endeavors related to youth (work).

The study visit participants will get a chance to learn about participatory youth budgeting, participative local programs for youth, certificate City for Youth, Erasmus+ projects that enchase youth participation, education of youth workers, health initiatives, youth councils and much more. While exploring local youth (work) practices participants will also get the chance to visit four idyllic bigger and smaller Mediterranean cities, enjoy local cuisine and immerse into community of practice of local youth work in Croatia.

Participants are expected to be ready to travel in a bus from city to city, to be actively involved in the programme, to share own experiences and practices and to be open towards future cooperation and joint Erasmus projects.

General goal: To present good practice of local youth (work and policy) in Croatia

Specific goals:

  • to explore the process of youth work development in Croatia and the role of municipalities in creating enabling environment for youth work development,
  • to present and meet diverse local practices in regard to youth policy and work by municipalities and youth organisations they cooperate with,
  • to stimulate networking among participants and Croatian municipality/NGO representatives as a foundation for future cooperation,
  • to motivate participants for creating joint Erasmus+/Europe solidarity corps projects,
  • to inspire participants for transfer of good practices among themselves,
  • to motivate participants to join future Europe Goes Local activities on national and European level
  • to analyse particular elements that enabled municipalities to thrive in the context of youth work and policy

Methodology

  • meetings with local authority representatives, youth workers and youth in four local communities – Rijeka, Pazin, Labin, Medulin
  • presentations and exploration of good youth (work) practices 
  • exchange of ideas, experiences and practices among participants

Profile of participants:

The target group for the study visit in Croatia are municipal and youth workers* from Lithuania, Slovenia, Estonia, Belgium and Serbia willing to develop their competencies and share their practices in the field of youth work at the municipal level.

*Civil society representatives (youth workers) can be eligible participants only if they are forming a team with their municipality partner (one representative per partner)

The working language is English.

 

NOTE TO APPLICANTS:

Having in mind safety and protection of all actors involved in this study visit due to Covid-19 pandemic, participants from EU countries will be required hold a valid EU covid certificate.

Exception for participants from Serbia - file attached

The study visit will start in Rijeka and end in Istria. Depending on the travel arrangements of participants the last day will be organized in Pula or Rijeka.

Participants traveling by plane can organize their travel via Zagreb airport (1,45h distance from Rijeka), Rijeka airport (situated on island Krk just 40 minutes away from Rijeka) and Pula airport (1,20h distance from Rijeka).

Participation fee

This project is financed by the participating National Agencies (NAs) of the Erasmus+ Youth in Action Programme. The participation fee varies from country to country. Accommodation and food

The hosting NA of this offer will organise the accommodation and cover the costs for accommodation and food.

Travel reimbursement

Please contact your NA or SALTO in order to know whether they would support your travel costs. If yes, after being selected, get in touch with your NA or SALTO again to learn more about the overall procedure to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
