Training Course
24 August - 1 September 2023 | Stuttgart, Germany
The project "#EcoSmart: Building Smart and Green Communities" is an Erasmus+ Training Course that aims to address pressing environmental and sustainability issues faced by Europe. The project recognizes that climate change, pollution, and the decline of biodiversity pose significant challenges to the well-being and sustainability of European cities and communities. It emphasizes the need for immediate action to ensure that future generations can live in resilient, sustainable, and livable environments.
The project takes into account the rapid urbanization of Europe's population, with an estimated 70% of people expected to live in cities by 2050. This highlights the importance of making informed decisions about city development to positively impact millions of lives in the future.
Recognizing the youth as the future of cities and societies, the project aims to invest in their education, skills, and empowerment. By providing youth workers with the necessary tools, the project enables them to drive sustainable development and shape the future of their communities. It aligns with the European Union's Smart Cities and Communities initiative, which promotes the development of smart cities and the use of digital technologies to improve citizens' quality of life while reducing environmental impact.
The project's main objectives include training youth workers in sustainable smart city solutions, providing them with the opportunity to develop their projects, fostering collaboration among youth workers and local experts, raising awareness about sustainable smart cities among young people, and contributing to the EU's goal of achieving sustainable and inclusive urban development.
The project targets various groups, including youth workers, organizations working in the field of smart cities and sustainable development, young leaders, local communities, and policymakers. By involving these stakeholders, the project aims to create a network, share best practices, and inspire others to implement similar projects in their regions.
Regarding project results and dissemination, the youth workers who participate will play a key role in sharing their successful project plans with local stakeholders and municipalities through various channels, such as on-site or online activities, webpages, and social media. Their experiences will be documented through interviews and videos, which will serve as inspiration for other youth workers and organizations. Additionally, a toolkit for sustainable smart city solutions will be created and shared, contributing to the adoption of sustainable practices beyond the project's lifespan.
The project's anticipated results include the creation of community action plans, the establishment of a network of organizations, the development of a toolkit, inspiring youth workers through role model interviews, and the production of a video showcasing the project's impact. The dissemination efforts aim to reach a wide audience through social media, Erasmus+ platforms, and partner organizations, ensuring a lasting impact on the target group and beyond.
