This study visit will give the participants an overview of different services for young people coming from marginalised backgrounds in Cork, Ireland

7-10 March  2023 | Cork, Ireland

The study visit will take place in the context of the strategic partnership focusing on Education and Training of Youth Workers. The visit will provide an opportunity for lecturers in Higher Education/ Practice Coordinators, youth researchers, and other youth work trainers to explore how youth work training and education prepares youth workers to work inclusively with young people from diverse communities .

This study visit will give the participants an overview of different services for young people coming from marginalised backgrounds in Cork. Visits will work as inspiration for participants to gain insights into Irish approaches, share and develop their own training and educational approaches and practices, while building an international network.

Aims and objectives:

This study visit aims to equip participants with an understanding of how youth workers in Ireland are educated, the context of professional youth work training as well as professional  youth work curriculum.

Another aim of this study visit is to create a space for peer sharing and potential future collaboration related to youth worker education and training in higher education.  Participants will be encouraged and supported to create and build partnerships and learn how strategic partnership programmes  can be utilised in youth worker education and training.

This study visit also aims to create opportunities for participants to learn about what inclusion in youth work in an Irish context looks like. During the visit participants will gain insights into the bigger picture of how youth work services in Ireland are structured.

Please note, priority for this study visit will be given to National Agency countries participating in the project - the Education and Training Strategic Cooperation - EaT SNAC and PLA on Education and Training.

Participating countries include: Ireland, Latvia, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Georgia, Belgium- Flanders and Estonia, Portugal, France and Finland.
