Developing digital competences of young people based on DigComp framework

Training Course

14-23 September 2025 | Zadar, Croatia

This training equips youth workers to develop young people's digital skills using DigComp, through non-formal education and practical tools for inclusive, youth-friendly workshops.

This training course offers a structured opportunity to explore the DigComp framework and strengthen digital youth work practices, equipping youth workers with knowledge, tools, and inspiration to support young people,especially those with fewer opportunities, in developing their digital competences. Through a carefully designed program based on non-formal education and experiential learning, participants will be introduced to the five competence areas of the DigComp framework and learn how to apply them in youth work contexts.

Participants will explore topics such as digital literacy, online safety, collaboration tools, digital creativity, and problem-solving, with a focus on youth-friendly approaches and inclusive strategies. The course will also provide space for examining how digital tools can foster participation, engagement, and empowerment of young people in their communities, especially in today’s technology-driven world. Throughout the training, Erasmus+ opportunities and the Youthpass tool will be integrated as frameworks for recognition and future engagement.

The training will move beyond theoretical input by engaging participants in simulation activities, collaborative planning, hands-on workshops, peer exchanges, and structured reflection. Special attention will be given to practical application of DigComp in youth work, co-creation of tools and workshops, and the design of follow-up activities that will be implemented at local level after the training. These follow-up actions aim to multiply the impact by promoting digital literacy among young people and strengthening the digital capacities of participating youth organizations.

In the final part of the training, participants will work in teams to develop local action plans for workshops and activities tailored to young people’s needs in their communities. These will be shared and refined through peer and trainer feedback sessions. The training concludes with evaluation, reflection, and the Youthpass ceremony, celebrating the personal and professional development of each participant and the collective achievements of the group.

By the end of the course, participants will have:

  • Strengthened their understanding of digital competences and the DigComp framework;
  • Gained practical skills to design and implement youth work activities focusing on digital literacy and inclusion;
  • Developed draft action plans for local-level workshops and educational activities;
  • Built stronger transnational connections and identified opportunities for future cooperation.

The training is fully aligned with the Erasmus+ Youth Workers Mobility objectives and contributes to:

  • Enhancing the educational and professional development of youth workers through high-quality non-formal learning;
  • Increasing the capacity of youth organizations to address digital transformation in youth work;
  • Supporting digital inclusion and active participation of marginalized youth in digital society;
  • Promoting European values and lifelong learning through Erasmus+ and Youthpass.
