Cultures in Contact

Training Course

3-8 March 2012 | Krzyzowa - International Youth Meeting Centre, Poland

We invite 20 multipliers of all generations from fields of (inter)national youth work or adult education from Poland, Czech Republic, Germany and Italy who would like to work intergenerationally or even have implemented intergenerational learning already
Within the training we will connect theory (What is a generation? What does intergenerational learning mean?) and practice (How to foster intergenerational learning in (inter)national contexts? Which methods can be applied to an intergenerational group? Where to get the money for intergenerational projects?). Participants will also have the chance to discuss the interconnection of age (youth, old-age) and discrimination to challenge and reduce prejudices and stereotypes about generations, what makes them ready for work with intergenerational groups. During the training we are using a transcultural approach, working with methods based on individual experience and reflection, offering a range of both formal and nonformal learning opportunities.

Background of the project
Kreisau-Initiative Berlin e.V. and the Krzyżowa Foundation for mutual understanding are cooperating for years in the field of international youth exchange. One of our most improtant aims is to foster intercultural dialogue between Germany and Poland as well as in Germany and Poland. Since 2005, we started to develpop several projects for transcultural exchange via youth meetings, which are taking part in Krzyżowa (Poland).

During our work we regognized the high potential of an even-handed transcultural dialogue between people with different backgrounds as well as the benefits of transcultural learning for young people. That convinced us to proceed with our work to be able to react on the demographic change in European Societies. The world today is more global than ever before. We are aiming to give everybody the possibility to internationalize their lifes.
