Local Heroes (Youth NGO)

Local Heroes was established as an informal youth group in 2013. The idea for this group started by students of the Çanakkale who through their work with NGOs such the Turkey Europe Foundation, discovered how powerful voluntarism can be and decided to take a more active role in order to bring about change in the Turkish Society. All members of the group have had a great deal of experience in voluntary activities and work and many of our members participated inTraining Courses within the framework of the “Youth in Action” programme. In 2013, they decided to form a group of 9 young volunteers focused on upholding Human Rights and running campaigns, seminars, events and projects, in order to raise awareness on issues, such as racism and intolerance which are prevalent issues in the Turkish society.
