Critical Lens: Training Course on Media Literacy for Human Rights, Peace and Tackling Migration Disinformation

Training Course

13-18 January 2026 | Munich, Germany

Engage with media literacy, critical thinking, and inclusive language to critically navigate the digital information landscape in the context of migration narratives for fostering the creation of balanced, peaceful, and informed discourse.

In Europe, the rapid spread of information driven by constant evolution in media landscapes has made it increasingly difficult to distinguish fact-based information from biased or misleading content. While digital tools offer opportunities for connection and awareness, they also enable the spread of misinformation and violent narratives, especially around sensitive topics such as migration.

"Critical Lens" is not just about learning - it’s about taking action. By the end of the program, participants will be equipped with practical skills to identify and design quality information landscapes.

Project Objectives:

  • To enhance participants’ skills in media literacy and in evaluating information critically to empower critical thinking and informed decision-making in line with human rights, peace, and democratic values;
  • To equip participants with skills to identify and counteract disinformation and fake news, media bias, stereotypes, and hate speech in traditional and social media;
  • To foster the ability to critically analyze media’s role in shaping perceptions and narratives of migration and how to create alternative, peace-promoting narratives;
  • To equip participants with knowledge and skills on concepts of peace, violence, conflict, peacebuilding and human rights;
  • To improve participants’ skills to critically evaluate the trustworthiness and factfulness of information online and introduce them to trustworthy information sources for fact-based discussions on migration and beyond;
  • To equip participants with skills in using inclusive and non-violent language and techniques for engaging in constructive dialogue and creating balanced, respectful and culturally sensitive narratives;
  • To introduce causes and consequences of media fatigue to the participants and explore strategies to manage and prevent it;
  • To facilitate the process of planning at least 5 local or cross-border follow-up actions designed and implemented by the participants to multiply the skills and knowledge gained;
  • To foster international cooperation among a network of young changemakers and empower them to raise awareness on project topics in the EU and beyond.

The selected participants will participate in two activities:

1 - Training Course (Munich, Germany)  from January 12 to 19, 2026 - This phase focuses on developing participants' ability to counteract disinformation and engaging critical analyze skills for building constructive dialogue and promote culturally sensitive narratives

2- Follow-up Action multiplying impact - Participants will organise an action to disseminate the gained skills in their community and beyond.
