Creating Spaces of Resilience with Young People - Mannheim

Training Course

26-31 August 2026 | Mannheim, Germany

European training in Mannheim for youth workers and educators exploring how to create resilient community spaces with young people. Participants learn participatory tools, exchange international practices, and develop project ideas.

Creating Spaces of Resilience with Young People is a European training course taking place in Mannheim from 26–31 August 2026. The activity is part of the Erasmus+ programme and is coordinated by proBiene in cooperation with partner organizations across Europe. It focuses on how youth workers and educators can support young people in shaping resilient, inclusive, and sustainable urban communities.

The training is specifically designed for professionals and practitioners working in the field of non-formal learning and youth work. Participants may include youth workers, educators, social workers, community organizers, and young professionals engaged in creating or supporting spaces for young people in their communities. The course aims to strengthen their capacity to apply participatory methods and to connect local youth work practices with international perspectives.

Throughout the programme, participants will explore the concept of urban resilience from the perspective of youth participation. The training combines peer learning, community visits, and practical workshops. Activities include community mapping, dialogue circles with local practitioners, case studies of resilience initiatives, and co-creation labs where participants design small project ideas that can later be implemented with young people in their home contexts.

The programme also includes field visits in Heidelberg and another municipality to observe local youth spaces and community initiatives in practice. Participants will work collaboratively with peers from different countries, exchanging experiences and building networks for future cooperation in youth work and non-formal education.

By the end of the training, participants will have gained new participatory tools, developed concrete project ideas, and strengthened their capacity to support young people as active contributors to resilient and inclusive communities. All participants will receive a Youthpass certificate recognizing the learning outcomes of the training.
