Consent and Inclusivity in Contact Sports

Training Course

22-31 October 2024 | Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, France

This training is aimed at 28 professional who incorporate sports into their pedagogical project and want to gain knowledge and skills on consent and inclusivity or to strengthen their ability to address these topics in their practice and organization.

Objectives

During this 9-days training, you will

  • Develop a better understanding of yourself within a multicultural team
  • Learn how to integrate a culture of consent and inclusivity into youth work
  • Acquire skills and tools in preventing violence and discrimination and valuing individual uniqueness.
  • Gain skills and tools to respond, protect, and support in case of violence or discrimination.

By the end of the event, the participants are expected to develop a toolkit to share their learnings and implement activities and educational workshops on the topic of consent and inclusivity as part of their work with young people.

Schedule

Days will start with a soft physical awakening, a time for collective life regulation, then sessions of non-formal education followed by practical application and reflection times. If you feel like it, you will be invited to introduce your own sports or physical practices to the group .

The training course will be based on non-formal education and learning-by-doing methods. The non-formal education sessions will address topics such as consent, inclusivity, consent biases, privileges and communication. We will also question our role as youth leaders. These themes will be explored through tools such as the Consent Fresk, the River of Doubt, the Privilege Walk, and tools from the Theatre of the Oppressed.

We will also enjoy outdoor and cultural activities to discover and understand the local area.
