Community Impact in Practice

Seminar

17-20 October 2021 | Vienna, Austria

Wanna have a greater impact? This workshop will give youth workers and organisations the opportunity to get to know and try out the freshly published practical guide on community impact of learning mobility.

This workshop is designed for youth workers and organisations. The Practical Guide aims to be hands-on. It explains some of the basics about community impact so that you as a practitioner can feel more confident in exploring the concept and benefit from working with it. Find the Practical Guide online.

There is a downloadable PDF accompanied by 6 visual chapters that translate the important parts of recent research into a practical tool accessible to all people in the youth work field. It aims to share the knowledge, awareness and potential of community impact of learning mobility projects to a wider audience.

The Guide helps you consider: What is Community? What is Impact? What does Community Impact look like in different ways for different projects? How can I include more Community Impact in my projects?

Context of the seminar

This seminar will be three residential nights and two working days in Vienna (arrival 17th departure 20th Oct). The programme of the seminar will include:

  • An introduction to the existing practical guide with some background theory and research
  • A chance to explore the (common) understanding of Community Impact as a concept
  • Facilitated processes to feedback on the utility and possibilities of the Practical Guide – how do you see it? How can you use it? What’s missing? What should be done next?
  • Interactive co-creation process to develop a plan on what more is needed by youth workers and organisations across Europe related to Community Impact in Learning Mobility projects.

Methodology

There will be a chance to learn about Community Impact as a concept from research inputs, discussions, and sharing of understanding.

Small working groups will allow interactive sharing of experience and contribution of ideas and suggestions in more informal methodology.

Feedback and ideas will be collated and built on, with some of the best ideas going on to influence the workplans of National Agencies and the Resource Centre related to their ongoing priority of supporting Community Impact in the European Programmes.
