Communicating with Empathy

E-learning

16 February - 16 March 2026 | Hybrid, Portugal

An experiential course and art workshop in empathic communication using a guided journal, self-practice, and peer practice. Learn to connect with feelings and needs, express yourself clearly, and cultivate compassion in relationships.

This course is for you if…

  • You work with young people as a youth worker, educator, trainer, facilitator, or in a related support role, and you feel the emotional intensity, responsibility, and pace of the work.
  • You are involved in youth work, non-formal learning, community work, education, or social fields, and want to stay present and supportive without feeling overwhelmed or burnt out.
  • You work with vulnerable young people or groups and are looking for ways to communicate with more clarity, empathy, and care — while also respecting your own limits.
  • You often hold space for others and would value a learning space where you are also listened to, supported, and acknowledged.
  • You want to strengthen your ability to regulate emotions, set boundaries, and respond thoughtfully in challenging or emotionally charged situations.
  • You are curious about Nonviolent Communication and are looking for a practical, embodied approach that can be integrated into everyday youth work and learning contexts.

By joining this course, you will…

  • Take part in a guided, practice-based learning journey focused on self-empathy, emotional awareness, and compassionate communication.
  • Explore practical NVC-inspired tools through journaling, reflection, dialogue, and experiential exercises that you can use immediately in your work with young people.
  • Create space to notice thoughts and feelings that often remain unaddressed due to fast-paced schedules and high emotional demands in youth work.
  • Strengthen your capacity to listen deeply, express needs and boundaries clearly, and stay connected in moments of tension or uncertainty.
  • Connect with other youth workers, educators, and practitioners, allowing space for peer learning, exchange, and meaningful professional connection.
  • Deepen your relationship with yourself, supporting both care and responsibility, so you can show up more grounded, authentic, and sustainable in the spaces you hold.
  • Integrate empathic communication practices into non-formal learning settings, supporting young people to feel seen, heard, and respected — while also protecting your own well-being.
