COMETS ICC - Training for Trainers on Intercultural Competence based on the ETS competence model

Training Course

19-24 May 2015 | n.n., Bulgaria

SALTO T&C RC published the ETS competence model for trainers working at international level. In cooperation with E+: YiA NAs SALTO T&C RC developed this opportunity for trainers to develop their competences according to their needs - the first one on ICC.
In the context of the European Training Strategy (ETS) the SALTO Training & Cooperation Resource Centre (SALTO T&C RC) published the ETS competence model for trainers working at international level with criteria and indicators - www.salto-youth.net/trainercompetences. In cooperation with some Erasmus+: Youth in Action National Agencies SALTO T&C RC developed a strategy (www.salto-youth.net/TrainerCompetenceDevelopment) to provide opportunities for trainers to develop their competences according to their needs and needs of training providers like National Agencies. General information about COMETS can be found at www.salto-youth.net/COMETS With this call the Cypriot, Bulgarian and the British National Agencies for Erasmus+: Youth in Action together with SALTO RCs Cultural Diversity (CD) and Training & Cooperation (T&C) invite trainers to take part in the COMETS ICC training course. COMETS is a new training for trainers format which will, in the forthcoming years, provide advanced trainers with opportunities to come together to reflect on, discuss and develop further on different competence areas of the ETS competence model. In the context of COMETS, advanced means that the trainer-learner has the capacity to direct his/her own learning and in particular to self-assess his/her competences in this activity with specific regard to ICC – of course experience as a trainer and/or learner in training matters. The general aims of the COMETS training courses are: • To contribute to quality development of youth work and of training practise in the field • To put the ETS competence model in practise • To support National Agencies in working with trainers on competence development • To contribute to the professional development of trainers in the field The series of COMETS training course will open with ‘COMETS ICC’, a training course on the Intercultural competence area. Additional to the general aims of COMETS, the intentions of the COMETS ICC are: • Reflecting upon the Intercultural competence area • Inspiring, contributing and engaging in reflections and discussions on practise around ICC/ICL Further information will follow soon after the selection procedure. The Intercultural competence area is in the ETS competence model described with the following competences: • Reflecting acceptance of ambiguity and change • Maintaining awareness of one’s own identity • Showing a willingness and ability to look at identity, culture and related aspects and dimensions from different perspectives • Critically reflecting and distance oneself from one’s own perceptions, biases, and stereotypical constructions of reality • Reflecting and using diverse ways and methods to increase self-awareness • Being able to apply human rights principles Please apply, if you are interested in the training course and if you want to be part of this training environment with the following intentions of the team: • Exploring sources (theories, methodologies, approaches) in forming trainer’s practice, • Supporting work on the interconnections between being a trainer, the group the trainer works with, and the context, • Create space which invites the ‚whole person‘ (Body-Mind-Heart-Soul), • Creating a learning environment which invites participants to stretch boundaries, • Critically reviewing practice and underlying attitudes and assumptions as trainers on ICL, and • Exploring personal reactions to ambiguity as a central element of ICC. Please find attached the guiding principles the team developed for the COMETS training courses The team of trainers of the COMETS ICC is Gisele Evrard Markovic and Peter Hofmann. After selection of applicants, the trainers team will invite selected trainer-participant to give specific feedback until the 05th April to be able to develop the detailed programme needs – it would be good if you will have some time during these period reserved to give the feedback needed!
