Through exploring the realities of hate speech and discrimination in various contexts, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how these issues impact young people. The course introduces practical approaches for developing social and online campaigns, encouraging participants to design initiatives that promote inclusion, equality, and resilience. By engaging in activities such as team building, campaign planning, and knowledge sharing, youth workers will enhance their skills to develop innovative and engaging campaigns for prevention of hate speech and discrimination.
This training moves beyond traditional learning by combining research-based exploration, creative problem-solving, and collaborative action planning. Participants will be empowered to develop follow-up camapigns and activities that enable young people to combat online hate speech, advocate for social change, and build resilient communities. The course aims to inspire youth workers to create meaningful educational opportunities that contribute to a more inclusive and equitable local communities.
The training course is developed in line with Youth Goal 2: Equality of All Genders, and contributes to:
Achieving universal awareness of gender-based inequality and discrimination, particularly in the media.
Ending gender-based violence by addressing and tackling it effectively in all its forms.
The training course will be based on non-formal education and learning-by-doing methods. The first day focuses on welcoming participants, team-building activities, and introducing the course themes. Participants will engage in name games, explore expectations and contributions, and participate in group exercises to foster collaboration. Day 2 emphasizes understanding hate speech and discrimination, with participants researching and sharing realities from their own countries, setting the foundation for campaign planning.
Days 3 and 4 provide deeper insights into social campaigns, focusing on attitudes, values, and beliefs. Participants will explore comprehensive approaches to working with young people and develop step-by-step strategies for creating impactful online campaigns. These sessions also address the importance of tackling online violence and hate speech effectively.
Day 5 concludes with collaborative planning for follow-up campaigns, enabling participants to design personal and professional action plans that can be implemented in their local communities. Throughout the training, daily reflections will allow participants to consolidate their learning and share insights with peers.
By the end of the training course, participants are expected to enhance their knowledge, skills, and confidence in addressing hate speech, designing campaigns, and supporting young people in creating impactful social change.
Objectives:
To develop an understanding and knowledge of youth workers about hate speech, discrimination, and strategies for addressing them through interactive youth campaigns.
To share different examples from national and international levels in regards to hate speech and discrimination, and campaigns against hate speech and discrimination.
To develop skills and empower youth workers to design and lead effective social and online campaigns.
To enhance participants' understanding of the Erasmus+ program, Youthpass, and the recognition of learning through 8 key competences.
