CineVET Training – Online Documentary Filmmaking Workshops

E-learning

17 April - 29 May 2026 | Zoom, Poland

CineVET is an online training on documentary film and audiovisual storytelling as creative and educational tools. It combines practical filmmaking competences with research-based approaches and supports the development of film skills.

The CineVET online training programme is jointly designed and facilitated by two experienced filmmakers, who share responsibility for the programme and co-lead the learning process. The training combines practical documentary filmmaking skills with research-based and anthropological approaches to working with reality, people and stories. The programme is built around documentary storytelling, research, field-oriented thinking and narrative development, offering participants a structured yet open framework for exploring non-fiction film as a creative and interpretative practice.

The training is addressed primarily to youth workers, youth leaders, educators and professionals working with young people, who wish to use documentary film and audiovisual competences as an attractive and reflective tool in youth work. The acquired competences can be used both in direct work with young people and in documenting, reflecting on and communicating the outcomes of youth activities, as well as in sharing film-related skills with young people interested in audiovisual arts. The training is also open to students, VET learners and participants from NEET backgrounds who are interested in documentary film and creative media.

  • How working with real people and real-life situations, drawing on observation, conversation and ethical responsibility looks like.
  • Anthropological and field-oriented approaches to documentary film, inspired by ethnographic methods and contextual thinking.
  • Case studies and masterclass inputs based on selected documentary films, introducing different forms, approaches and narrative strategies.
  • How to clearly present documentary film concepts and to reflect on the creative process.
  • Using documentary film and audiovisual competences for participants’ own professional practice, as well as as participatory, non-formal learning tools in work with young people, supporting reflection, social competences, critical thinking and a sense of efficacy.

How we work

The training is delivered fully online and is based on:

  • interactive group sessions,
  • guided discussion and reflection,
  • practical exercises and idea development,
  • shared facilitation and mentoring by both trainers.
