Youth exchanges in the context of long-term youth work

Join this training to discuss the quality aspects of youth exchanges -  such as how to connect them meaningfully with the local youth work practice of your organisation and what are the benefits and challenges of international youth work. Learn how to enhance the learning dimension through an active engagement of young people throughout the entire process of organising a youth exchange.

A training for Accredited Organisations

The training supports organisations working with Erasmus Accreditation in the Field of Youth. As an accredited organisation you already have experience in organising youth exchanges. This training offers an opportunity to explore quality aspects more deeply and develop the quality of your youth exchanges.

The training aims to deepen the understanding of the potential of youth exchanges as a tool for non-formal learning in long-term work with young people. It explores the Accreditation's strategic action plan  as an environment to organise youth exchanges.

You can explore what kind of impact your youth exchanges have, both on the participating young people and the work of the the organisations involved.

Objectives

• Strengthen participants’ understanding of youth work and non-formal education as the foundation of Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of Youth and international mobility activities
• Explore the potential of youth exchanges for motivation, learning and empowerment in long term work with young people
• Increase the participants’ understanding of the importance of involving young people in all phases of a youth exchange and the tailoring it according to their needs
• Develop participants’ competences to recognise the potential for learning in all phases of a youth exchange and support the learning processes of everyone involved
• Identify the challenges of international setting a youth exchange brings and reflect on how to approach them

This Training Course is for 30 participants from the Erasmus+ Programme Countries who:

• Are part of organisation with Erasmus Accreditation in the field of Youth
• Work with young people on a regular basis (youth workers, youth leaders)
• Are involved in the practical organisation of youth exchanges
• Have implemented at least 2 youth exchanges within the Erasmus+ Youth Programme
• Are interested in organising youth exchanges in the future and build up quality partnership
• Are capable of working in English
• Are at least 18 years old

Programme and Venue

The programme has 4 full days of work

• Sunday March 22 - arrivals
• Monday-Thursday March 23-26 - working days
• Friday March 27 - departures

The training is organised in Youth Centre Marttinen in Virrat, Finland.
