Conference – Symposium - Forum

12-14 March 2020 | Vienna, Austria

The conference “Europe talks about Solidarity” will offer a space for conceptual debates around the understanding of solidarity in Europe. The event will bring together experts that will challenge the understanding of solidarity in the youth sector.

Concept

This conference will be the first one from a seria of events, hosted in different countries. Is a two-day event, starting on 12th of March 2020 until 14th of March 2020.

The objectives of the event are:

  • To offer a platform for participating in debates on different aspects and understanding of solidarity
  • To showcase different inspirational inputs and practices related to solidarity in the European Solidarity Corps programme and beyond 
  • To build a supportive network of diverse stakeholders committed to solidarity in Europe 

The event is co-organised by the European Solidarity Corps Resource Centre, the Austrian National Agency and the Finish National Agency.

Participants

The conference will bring together around 40 persons from various fileds, interested in the topic of solidarity. The criteria for participants selection is the interest in conceptual debates around solidarity, the connection with the topic of solidarity and the representation of as most diverse sectors as possible. This conference is dedicated to actors involved in the youth sectors together with representatives from:  govermental structures: local communities, municipalities, ministries; policy makers and political representatives; artists and representatives of cultural sector; private sector (eg social enterprises); CSO representatives and civil society movements, faith-based groups; media, journalists, bloggers, influencers.

Content

The content of the conference will be generated by external experts that will provoc critical thinking around the understanding of solidarity, will offer an overview about solidarity in the youth field, will present different perspectives of solidarity and will question the future, present and the past in relation with solidarity. A part of the program will be dedicated to share experience and expertise of participants. 

The evening of 13th of March 2020, will be dedicated to showcase different project examples, supported by European Solidarity Corps.

The conference will be in English.

European Solidarity Corps Resource Centre (SALTO Resource Centre)

The European Solidarity Corps Resource Centre (RC) was established in November 2018 under the coordination of IZ – Austrian National Agency for Erasmus + Youth in Action and the European Solidarity Corps.

The RC provides assistance in the implementation of the European Solidarity Corps programme to the European Commission, the network of National Agencies (NAs) and SALTO Resource Centres, to stakeholders, organisations and participants.

Costs

Participation fee

This project is financed by the participating NAs of the European Solidarity Corps Programme. The participation fee varies from country to country. Please contact your National Agency or SALTO Resource Centre to learn more about the participation fee for participants from your country.

Accommodation and food

The hosting National Agency  will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food. The accomodation will be in double rooms based on gender separation.

Travel reimbursement

Please contact your National Agency (NA) or SALTO Resource Centre (SALTO) in order to know whether they would support your travel costs. If yes, after being selected, get in touch with your NA or SALTO again to learn more about the overall procedure to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
