Building a Future for Sustainability

Training Course

1-8 November 2024 | Nea Makri (Attica), Greece

"Building a Future for Sustainability" is a project designed to address the urgent environmental crisis and climate change by empowering organisations and young people with sustainability skills and knowledge.

The urgent need to face the environmental crisis, contribute to the fight against climate change, and act strategically in Europe prompted youth organizations to plan "Building a Future for Sustainability".

Having identified the growing concern about the environmental crisis as well as the impact of the concern on young people, they designed an innovative approach. Young people feel stressed, confused and frustrated that their governments fail to act effectively and efficiently. With the Earth's biocapacity rapidly decreasing and interest in environmental sustainability constantly increasing, we believe that youth education and youthwork are vital to the transition to more sustainable forms of development.

With greater environmental and ecological literacy and sustainability skills, young people will be more willing to change their behaviour on specific environmental issues, bringing about the required change today and in the future. It is proven that education and lifelong learning have the potential to help reduce our collective ecological footprint and increase our ecological footprint—actions that positively impact our ecology and environment.

Involved youth organizations from Spain, Croatia, Serbia, Poland, the Republic of North Macedonia, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia and Greece responding to the needs of young people, the European strategies and the new European sustainability competence framework GreenComp need to create quality strategic programs with a strong environmental impact. Organizations need a structured framework and strategic planning tools to contribute to the green transition and sustainable development. We believe it is essential to focus on building sustainability skills among young people to combat climate change.
