Big Fat Volunteer Festival

Partnership-building Activity

11-17 November 2013 | Palermo, Italy

What happens if you put together volunteering, festival, and young people from 11 different countries to discuss about volunteering, environment, inclusion? Volunteer festival, and not a simple one – but a big, diverse, colorful and creative one.

Festival about good practices of volunteer work, sharing knowledge and examples of activities, developing new ideas and partnerships, quality of methods and educational aspects of volunteer and youth activities, topics addressed by volunteer projects – social inclusion, environment and sustainable lifestyle; presenting and discussing educational methods and materials (games, outdoor activities and sport, creative methods of presentation, combination of methods used during youth projects to facilitate inclusion of participants with special needs), activities to get youngsters motivated and interested to join some educational component of a project and a lot more. As it belongs to the festival, it will have healthy portion of creativity and rock-n-roll of youth and volunteer work. We will exchange and practice creative methods (as theater, street art, crafts and other) and use of creative methods with youngsters to foster personal development and intercultural exchange, and everybody will have space on the festivals' stage to present, organize and create.

InformaGiovani (Youth NGO)

Associazione InformaGiovani was established in 2001. It aims at foster and promote human and civil rights, with focus on right to information and participation; defend social and collective rights; promote local and international volunteering as tools for social inclusion and active citizenship. The association runs activities of information, training and counselling, seminars on EU programmes, on social volunteering and international cooperation, focusing on inclusion and rehabilitation of young people who are or risk experiencing social exclusion.
Since 2008 organizes youth exchanges and international workcamps, involving about 250 participants. It is accredited as HSC organization for EVS, member of the Lindh foundation and of the Italian antimafia network “Libera”.
Since 2009 is leading an informal European network for social volunteering and social inclusion and cooperates with Italian Juvenile Justice System to train social workers and include young offenders in international activities.

Costs

All costs concerning meals and accommodation as well as the program and materials will be fully covered for the whole duration of the training. Travel costs will be reimbursed 70%, visa costs for participants from countries requiring visa will be reimbursed 100%.

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity. Read more about Youthpass:
