Basics in Management of Volunteers - online course

We are excited to announce that you can now enrol in the "Basics in Management of Volunteers" online course, created by our colleague, Cristina Anamaria Nistor, in E+ project “MORE THAN RELIABLE EDUCATION” (MORE).

What you can learn:

  • Recognize the significance of volunteer management and the concept of volunteer management;
  • Understand the roles and duties of a volunteer manager;
  • Create an orientation program for volunteers and recognize the significance of describing their duties and providing them with the appropriate tools to complete them;
  • Monitor the volunteer's tasks and performance;
  • Recognize and incorporate into a plan the factors that serve to retain and motivate volunteers;
  • Recognize the significance of planning each step of volunteer management and the value of continuous evaluation and development.

Short description

Throughout this course, we will cover essential topics that are crucial for every volunteer manager to understand. These topics include the significance of volunteer management, effective strategies for recruiting and selecting volunteers, best practices for orienting and training volunteers, methods for engaging and motivating volunteers, solutions for retaining volunteers, and the importance of planning a project involving volunteers.

This online course is designed to provide you with practical skills and knowledge that you can immediately apply within your organisation. By the end of the course, you will have the confidence to plan a volunteering project, navigate the essential steps of recruitment, training, retention, and management of volunteers, and embark on your role as a volunteer manager, even if you have little or no prior experience. 

Facilitator: The course is prepared by Cristina Anamaria Nistor, who has extensive experience in volunteer management, with a background of working with volunteers for over 12 years. As a youth worker, trainer, psychologist, and general manager of a youth-focused non-profit organization, she possesses a profound understanding of the significance of effective volunteer management. She has been involved in projects with volunteers and partners from diverse continents, offering valuable insights into managing volunteer programs on a global scale. In addition, Cristina actively volunteers for local, national, and international educational, cultural, and athletic events and projects. She has extensive experience in organizing large-scale sporting events with hundreds or thousands of participants. Moreover, she co-founded a club with the primary goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle and sports among amateurs.

Duration: The "Basics in Management of Volunteers" online course is relatively short and focused on the main key elements. We recommend dedicating approximately 4-6 hours to follow the lessons and apply the learned concepts in order to create your own plans.
