Are you ready for questioning migrations?

E-learning

9 April 2024 | Italy

Are you interested in migrations? Do you want to involve youngsters using gamification? This is the event for you!! We will give you an insight on the 5 pedagogical tools that we created and provide you the material to run your own workshops!

For 2 years, the associative and academic partners of the Erasmus + project "Questioning Migrations" have developed 5 pedagogical kits aiming at providing a better understanding of European migration policies. These kits have now been completed and tested with 363 young Europeans and 12 youth workers have attended a training course. The next step is to make them more user-friendly to respond to a shared need: optimizing its dissemination in Europe.

Are you ready to spread the word ?

The event will be in English but kits will be available in five languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian and Greek.

  • Kit 1 - What are European migration policies?

This section highlights the European Union's stance on migration, which is often portrayed simplistically as either an open corridor or a fortress, even though the reality is way more complex. Addressing these complexities is vital for shaping Europe's future.

  • Kit 2 - What is the Schengen area?

The creation of the Schengen area is one of the most important and concrete achievements of European integration for the citizens who are part of the European community. For this reason, this kit will attempt to bring together this historic transformation of internal and external mobility between the countries that are part of the Schengen area, neighbouring countries and all those who attempt to move freely within this common area.

  • Kit 3 - Asylum Policies in the EU, what are the main priorities and challenges?

At the European level, there are various mechanisms, instruments, and structures in place to facilitate cooperation on migration and asylum policy. However, these are often underutilized, poorly coordinated, and not adjusted to the political and geographical realities of the continent. Therefore, the main objective of this third kit is to provide an accurate overview of the discussions surrounding asylum policies in the EU.

  • Kit 4 - Who makes the decisions on European asylum and migration policies?

Analysis of the political and legal decision-making process reveals the significance of organizational dynamics and institutional politics in shaping policy implementation challenges and underlying orientations.

  • Kit 5 - Demography and migrations in Europe

The demographic evolution of EU countries has significant implications for their global standing, yet many analysts overlook the link between economic growth and demographic dynamics. This kit proposes exploring alternative methods for managing demographic effects in Europe and reflects on past reluctance among European states to harmonize labor migration rules, favoring a sectoral approach instead.
