Activity for Coaches in Solidarity Projects

This Seminar is an event addressing the topic of coaching of young people implementing Solidarity Projects. The aim is to improve the quality and support of the coaches specifically for Solidarity Projects in the European Solidarity Corps programme.

A coach is a resource person who accompanies groups of young people involved in a Solidarity Project, supporting their active participation. They help facilitate and enhance the quality of the learning process, and assist in identifying and documenting learning outcomes at the end of the project, in line with the Programme Guide.

What is the aim?

The aim of the seminar is to create a space to explore different approaches to how coaches support young people in carrying out Solidarity Projects within the European Solidarity Corps.

What are the objectives? 

  • Establishing a shared understanding of the coach’s role and significance within Solidarity Projects
  • Highlighting the value coaches bring and the impact of their work in these projects
  • Building a foundational understanding of the coaching process
  • Providing a safe space to practice coaching techniques
  • Fostering a sense of community among coaches
  • Deepening the understanding of the concept of solidarity within Solidarity Projects
  • Identifying next steps and exploring how to apply the knowledge gained to participants' real-life contexts

Methodology 

  • Through a non-formal education approach, participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and best practices, and to try out various tools within a supportive group setting.
  • Trainers will offer input, introduce a range of coaching tools, and provide opportunities for hands-on practice in a safe environment.
  • A dedicated space will be provided for transfer, where participants can develop action plans on how to apply their new knowledge and skills to their project contexts.

To whom is this event addressed?  

  • to youth workers and employe of supporting organisations of the Solidarity Projects (both already experienced and people who plan to start working in the field);
  • people active in the field of solidarity projects coaches of Solidarity Projects (coaches)
  • people planning to become a coach in the near future

Participants are expected to:

  • Have previous experience with Solidarity Projects (e.g. as participants, youth workers, or volunteers in organisations implementing such projects)
  • Be available to attend the full duration of the seminar
  • Possess a good command of English
  • Be willing and prepared to apply coaching in their daily practice

This project is financed by the participating National Agencies (NAs) of the European Solidarity Corps Programme.  

Accommodation and food

The hosting NA (MT) of this offer will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food. 

Travel reimbursement

Please contact your NA or SALTO in order to know whether they would support your travel costs. If yes, after being selected, get in touch with your NA or SALTO again to learn more about the overall procedure to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
