WHAT’S IN IT FOR WHO
This 12 days study visit for coordinators of NGO’s, policymakers, trainers, social workers, youth workers, educators and young leaders from Europe will aim to get impressions of South African solidarity and start new projects in Europe and between Europe and South Africa.
WHAT’S IT ABOUT
Port Elizabeth is a very friendly (and windy) city in South Africa where extreme poverty, middle income, and high income are coming together, as well as the black, coloured and white cultures. Culture in South Africa is well known for it’s ethnic and cultural diversity. Aspects of cultural rituals have survived in becoming more western and this makes the country even more interesting. Living in a community culture will give European visitors some eye-openers and learning opportunities.
Breakthrough, as European organiser, has visited and worked in South Africa since 2010 and have seen development and the challenges and beauty of living in a diverse community. Solidarity is important in South Africa, even in the poorest areas.
During the study visit you will meet local and international people who will share their solidarity story, also you will visit local and international volunteering projects, and stakeholders. One of the objectives for future projects is to implement acknowledge and recognition of non-formal learning for European as well as South African citizens.
We will work together with the South African organisations Ready4life and Calabash Trust.
