Violence and digitalization impacting Youth during COVID-19: webinar

Conference – Symposium - Forum

10 December 2021 | online, Estonia

The aim of this virtual event is to look at the impact of violence online to youth participation and digitalisation. The foreseen key question of the webinar is, how is violence and digitalization in Covid era impacting youth participation?

Recently, public concern about increasing amounts of online harrassment and hate speech against women and minorities is not always present in discussions about digitalization and youth participation. In other words, public debates about safety online tend not necessarily to go hand-in-hand with encouragement for increasing amount of daily activity to take place online, such as calls for online participation, online learning, work at distance, etc.

Therefore, in the context of ongoing Covid era that has remarkably increased online presence and activities at distance for young people, we would like to address the topics of youth participation, digitalisation and violence all together.

This event is in sequence to previous' years human rights education (HRE) and nationalism webinar and a follow-up to a larger Youth for Human Rights conference which focused on HRE and the field of youth in Europe. However, participation does not require any previous attendance from these events named here.

The event will be built up as follows: contributions from the speakers, followed by a moderated panel discussion, and a moderated Q&A session in the presence of panelists.

The foreseen agenda of this upcoming Dec 10th event is structured as follows:

Friday, December 10th online at 2.30 PM – 5 PM CET time (GMT +1).

2:30 PM CET time - Welcome & introduction
2:40 PM CET - Speakers' presentations
3:45 PM CET - Break
