YOCOMO - 1st pilot course for youth workers based on the ETS competence model for youth workers to work internationally

Training Course

4-10 June 2018 | Rome, Italy

CALL WITH ADDITIONAL INFO! This very first pilot training course is based upon and articulated around the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers To Work Internationally, developed in the context of the European Training Strategy (ETS) by SALTO T&C RC.
This Pilot training course is a first step into the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers. It AIMS at being a unique journey of educational opportunities meant for you, passionate and adventurous youth workers, who are ready and willing to reflect on, share and discover your personal unique journeys, and explore how to work with competence models. Therfore, if… - you are a youth worker and you already have experience with international mobilities, but want to develop your competences further, - you are interested to experience working with a competence model and developing within, and - you are looking for a great opportunity to meet other colleagues and share, exchange, support and evolve... ...this course might be for you! OBJECTIVES - To explore a competence-based approach and the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers: WHAT it IS what it is NOT; - To experiment, play and see how the Competence Model can be used in your practice; - To focus on particular parts and/or aspects of the Competence Model and explore them in more depth; - To dedicate time for self-exploration and reflective practice; - To work with (self)assessment/reflection in the framework of the Competence Model; - To explore how to make your learning and development beneficial for groups/organisations/communities; - To share educational practices from your youth work experience and plan further. GENERAL CONCEPT OF THE PILOT COURSES: The pilot courses (what is meant to become their final versions) are developed as a support for youth workers in their competence development. Each course will focus on different dimensions and levels of complexity of the competence model. Hnece, the series of pilot courses will support fine-tuning and developing the final versions of the courses based on the competence model for youth workers. Participating in this first pilot course does not mean that you are obliged to take part in the next ones! TARGET GROUP The pilot courses are designed for youth workers or those active in youth work on a regular basis, actively involved in activities with young people and in designing, implementing and evaluating pedagogical activities for young people, particularly those linked with the mobility of young people. As participant, you be asked to direct your own learning and to have the ability to self-assess your competences (attitudes, skills, knowledge and behaviours). You must have a structure that supports you (NGO, school, municipality, youth centre, etc.). A fairly good knowledge English is necessary since it is the working language. NOTE: because this is not yet the final version of the course, we hope to have participants who are able to provide conductive feedback and recommendation after the course. However, please note that this first pilot course will correspond to what – in the final versions - will become an introduction to working on / with competence models. The team of trainers for this first pilot course are Salvi Greco and Snežana Bačlija Knoch. Following the selection process, the training team might contact selected participants with specific information and tasks regarding the further development of the programme. This is to ensure that your needs are taken into account in order to maximise the potential that the course offers. METHODOLOGY This pilot course (and the future final editions) is based on a long-term format and blended learning, meaning that it includes: - One residential course of 5 full working days; - Online work before (light preparation) and after (to harvest); - Because of its experimental nature, the pilot course plans a final consolidation meeting of about 2 days, most possibly in September 2018. The general approach is based on the principles of non-formal learning. The WORKING DAYS are 5-9 June (arrivals on the 4th late afternon and departures on the 10th in the morning).
