"Fighting youth unemployment"
Training Course
12-18 March 2012 | City of Leskovac, Serbia
On this 6-day TC, participants will gain detailed knowledge of the YiA Programme and practical tools for improvement of their personal, social and professional competence; how to stimulate mobility and active participation of unemployed young people.
Training “Fighting youth unemployment” is intended for youth workers/activists who didn't before participate in international trainings organized within the framework of the Youth in Action Programme or in other similar projects and events dedicated to youth employment issues.
We are organizing this training because we feel that unemployed young people aren’t very much motivated to actively participate in civic or social processes and thus we think that these young people need help and motivation from competent youth workers/activists.
Therefore, the participants of the training will be involved into intensive process of intercultural non-formal learning where they will gain detailed knowledge of the Youth in Action programme and practical tools for improvement of their personal, social and professional competence; how to stimulate mobility and active participation of unemployed young people, at the same time positively influencing their employability. The participants will come up with initiatives, future partnerships and will create projects that will include young people with fewer opportunities, and will promote social inclusion and fight against youth unemployment and participation of the unemployed young people in the society.
The training course will bring together 28 youth workers/activists from Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania. The project targets young men and women who didn't before participate in international non-formal education events for young people and who are working on youth employment issues within their organizations, or want to start working on youth employment projects.
Since participants will be youth activists/workers, education about methods to fight unemployment will help with enhancement of their capacities. Also, by bringing YIA closer to them, we are supporting their need for more active personal engagement.
The TC itself will be conducted using an interactive and participative approach. Active participation, group-work and teamwork, as well as theoretical inputs will characterise the program of the TC and a part of the exchange between participants will be dedicated to project management, writing project proposals.

Organiser:
Association "People's parliament" (Youth NGO)
Association “People's Parliament” was founded in 1999 and is one of the oldest NGO’s in South Serbia region. The organization works through 3 Program areas, one of which is Youth Program, serving as a basis for implementation of dozens of local, national and international youth-serving projects by us. Being one of the most active and experienced youth-serving NGO’s in Serbia, we directly participated in the development of the most significant national youth policies, such as: National Youth Strategy and Law on Youth, as well as many other local youth policies. The goal of our Youth program is to build knowledge and skills that help the young lead safe and creative life, teach and promote tolerance, anti-racism and anti-discrimination, increase active participation of youth in the life of their local communities and sociopolitical processes, strengthen economic independence of young people and improve cooperation between organizations and associations that gather young people. We are especially active when projects and initiatives in areas of youth entrepreneurship development, as well as general youth employment, are in question.
