Young Team Europe

Finland & Austria organised local activities on the topic European citizenship

  •  Name of the organisation

Young Team Europe is a youth participation project that is co‑ordinated by the Youth Information and Counselling centre NAPA, in Finland and the partner organisation of this transnational Youth Initiative project is “aha” – Tipps and Infos for Young people, in Austria.

  • Place and date of the realisation

The duration to realise the project is seven months. A group of youngsters in Finland organises local activities and has presentations in the Kokkola area and Young Team Europe Austria provides the Austrian youngsters with the same information in Vorarlberg.

  • Short description of the project

Young Team Europe has the purpose to bring together youngsters that are interested in building the European Citizenship. The target group is youngsters who live in rural areas and who have less opportunities to receive youth information. This network of two national youth groups would like to create a common tool of methods and ways of spreading information to youngsters in rural areas with the aim to spread the idea to other countries, especially to new member countries neighbouring Austria and near to Finland.

  • What makes it a good project?

The purpose of Young Team Europe is to create a link between youngsters from Finland and Austria interested in a multicultural society and in European citizenship. The network will be enlarged in the future with other European countries, especially considering the new European Union members. The idea is to transfer our knowledge and a youth information tool to the new members of the network and to incorporate new ideas and initiatives from them. The project’s impact is very local, because the target group is the youth of Ostrobothnia and the region of Vorarlberg who live in small towns without information centre points. It is a way to open their minds and to bring an international and multicultural atmosphere to the rural areas. Local authorities and local youth centres are directly involved in Young Team Europe.

  • Proposal for future co-operation

It is planned to continue the project together with a third country – this will very much depend on the evaluation and feedback of the youngsters. Through the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency ERYICA and other contacts, we can distribute this idea to other Youth Information Centres and in the long run we can expand it to other countries.
