Costumes of Spata

• My project ?

My project was called "Costumes of Spata" and focused on the elaboration and publication of a book that presents the local cultural elements of the Greek area of Spata through traditional costume. About 30 young people took part in the project, and we also organised performances with these traditional costumes that were filmed!

• The Outcome

Well, the main achievement was to extend our knowledge about our traditional heritage. Many of the costumes belong to the people in the area and were fantastic. Most of them are not used any more, and the book provides a means to re-discover them. You know, we had to do research to find out how the traditions were linked to the costumes, and this also gave an educational value to the project.
Our work was very well accepted in the community and now we are planning to do something with songs in our specific dialect. Let's see if we find support!
