SALTO Inclusion Activities in 2011

2011 is the year of culmination of SALTO Inclusion's strategy to combat unemployment of young people. SALTO Inclusion would like to create synergies between the various un/employment initiatives, linking them to each other and bringing together in a big reflection seminar at the end of 2011: Bridges to Work.

Social Inclusion & (Un)Employment

The activities in the field of un/employment, part of the integrated approach:

  • Non-Formal learning and the labour market: reflection seminar with youth workers, policy makers and experts about the contribution of NFL to young people's employability (28-29 April 2011), cooperation with NA Slovenia
  • Competences for All!: training course on assessing competences of inclusion groups - with focus on school drop outs (5 -11 May 2011) Co-organised by NA Belgium-FL and SALTO Inclusion
  • Activation of school drop outs: Training course on mobility and activation of school dropouts (3-9 April 2011) cooperation with NA Greece
  • Seminar on youth employment: (Balearic Islands) cooperationwith NA ES.

Bridges to Work: seminar, 18-20 October 2011 Antwerp
Bridges to Work would invite different stakeholders involved in the employment efforts to discuss the needs and ways forward regarding employment of young people with fewer opportunities. The seminar will take place in Antwerp, the European Youth Capital 2011.

Evaluation of the SALTO Un/employment strategy
The SALTO Inclusion strategy combating unemployment covered a 3 year period (2009-2011) so at the end of 2011 there is need for evaluation and inventory of results. A round-table meeting with actors involved in/touched by the SALTO inclusion unemployment strategy will be held.

Inclusion Colleague Support Groups

Long Term Training Course on Urban Youth

Training course about issues urban youth are facing. The LTTC would consist of two seminars/meetings with a practice period, cooperation with the NA Hungary and France.

Newcomer TC

SALTO Inclusion will organise the yearly Newcomer training course (April 2011, Brussels) in cooperation with the NA network.

Other cooperation activities and meetings

  • East-West Included: partnership making seminar about inclusion EVS in rural areas (6 - 10 Jun 2011, Moldova) - cooperation with NA Austria & SALTO EECA
  • Rückenwind (tailwind) seminar (Autumn 2011, Portugal) - cooperation with NA Austria and Portugal

Trainers and TOY

  • Implementation of the changes based on review of the TOYdatabase and suggested by the independent researcher (2010).
  • Participation in relevant trainer meetings to promote and collect feedback on TOY and make the tool (even) more user-friendly and effective.
