SALTO Training of Euro-Mediterranean Multipliers

Background:

In 2004 at the request of the national coordinators of six MEDA countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and in 2005 Palestine and Israel), SALTO-YOUTH EuroMed Resource Center set up training courses of multipliers aiming at training persons to work strictly with the national coordinators.

Next courses:

In 2005 the training of Euromed Multipliers took place this spring and summer in Palestine and Israel

  • A course for Palestinian youth workers took place from May 21th - 27th, 2005 in Palestine.
  • A course for Israeli youth workers took place from July 8th - 14th, 2005 in Israel.

Aims and Objectives:

The aim of this kind of training course is to bring together and train people to work strictly with the national coordinators as resource person in their onw country. This person will be able then to provide information on the Euromed Youth Programme and promote it locally or when possible act as multiplier on the national level.

The following concrete objectives have been set in order to reach the aims as described above:

  • To train persons to develop the bases of the Euro-Med Youth Programme;
  • To have the capacity to inform and to train on the activities of the Programme;
  • To develop the use of different tools;
  • To adapt methodologies and tools for the target group;
  • To increase a genuine understanding of the spirit of the Programme 

Profile of participants

The course is opened to 20 youth workers with a strong interest in EuroMed Youth Programme. Furthermore, the following criterias are relevant for participants of this course:

  • Good knowledge and/or experience of the EuroMed Youth Programme;
  • Good communication skills;
  • To have experience in the youth field  (according to the reality of each country);
  • Ability to follow the training in English;
  • Commitment to participate the full duration of the training;
  • Commitment and motivation to cooperate after the course with the National Coordinator to promote the EuroMed YOUTH Programme in the country.

Programme Elements:

Throughout the one-week course the participants will acquire skills for using and adapting different methodologies and tools in becoming qualified to deliver information and training sessions about the Euro-Med Youth Programme.  The concept behind this Training Course is to prepare a future pool of Euro-Med trainers on three levels:  local, national and international, acting on behalf of their National Coordinator.
