But first of all: Who are ‘we’?

My name is Layia TZORTZI and I work as a project officer responsible for Action 5 and coordinator for Third Countries in the Hellenic National Agency. I will be your guide when it comes to practicalities during the training course “Step In - EuroMed for beginners” in Ellas, together with Lilly VOYIATZI & Elena MOYSSIOU, who work on youth exchanges with E.U. and Third countries .

The host of this training course is the Hellenic National Agency for the EU-Programme YOUTH, an agency which is part of the General Secretariat for Youth, which is a governmental authority dealing with our national policy in youth affairs.

SALTO-YOUTH EuroMed Resource Centre is the organiser of the “Step In” course which forms the first level of a training curriculum to enhance Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and Mr. Marc Muller who has run already several courses for the resource centre represents it on this training.

And there are three further trainers involved:

  • Essie Arbiv from Israel who has participated to several curriculum training courses and was already active as a junior trainer in the “Step In” in Belgium last year
  • Vassiliki from Greece who has participated to several curriculum trainings last year and will now be involved as a junior trainer.

Travel details

Do I need a VISA and where can I get it?

If you need to apply for VISA beforehand you may contact the consular services of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A list with their addresses is available on the follwing website: http://www.mfa.gr/english/the_ministry/missions/

How to get to the venue of the training course from Athens airport?

From Athens International Airport “E.Venizelos” you need to go to Glyfada. Therefore you have to take the airport blue bus (outside the arrivals, No E 96) which goes to Piraeus.
The ticket costs 2,90 € and you get off at the fifth (5th) station of Glyfada which is outside the centre (NOT Glyfada Square Station as previously announced).
The buses leave from the airport every 10 minutes and the duration is about 45 minutes.

Money and Exchange

In this training course, board, lodging and other facilities you may need during the training course is covered by the host. For any personal expenses (souvenirs ect.) please have in mind that our currency is Euros ( € ). For those who need to get actual change rates into Euros, please have a look at http://www.oanda.com.

Weather conditions

Please bring summer clothes, as for the northern countries will be hot !! The southern countries know !! But any way you can check at: http://www.emy.gr/hnms/english/index_html

The venue

The training course will be hosted in a training center of National Bank of Greece, which is located in Glyfada, a southern suburb of Athens. The city has approx. 120.000 inhabitants, which increases during summer, as it lies from the hill up to the sea shore.

The center is only 30 meters walk from the bus station, back, at the same side of the road!

Intercultural evening

We would like to ask all of you to bring food, drinks, traditional clothes and music from your country for the intercultural evening that is planned to the 2nd of June. The intercultural evening is a great opportunity for us to “taste” a little bit of your country!
It’ll be possible to keep food and drinks you bring cold in a fridge

Information about your country and your organization

We would like all participants to bring information about your country as well as about the organization you represent.

Posters, pictures, information in English if possible about your organization will be good resources for you to use when preparing for a NGOs exhibition that will be running during the training course.

The exhibition is a tool that will be used for the participants to get to know each others’ organizations and to inspire for partnership among the participating organizations during the training course.

Taste of the Ellas

We would like to offer you a taste of Ellas within the programme of “Step In” !

As the season of the training course is summer, we would like you to get the opportunity to :

  1. Visit the Acropolis, its museum and walk at Plaka + Monastiraki, famous areas in the center of Athens
    or
  2. Visit the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion Cape, were the sunset is unique
    or
  3. Visit the Lake of Vouliagmeni
