Objectives of the SALTO-YOUTH South East Europe Resource Centre

The Centre aims in particular:

  • To provide information about possibilities for co-operation between partner countries in South East Europe and programme countries,
  • To offer support in finding partners for Youth in Action projects involving Programme countries and partner countries in South East Europe,
  • To co-ordinate and organise educational activities,
  • To produce, collect and disseminate relevant materials for co-operation in this field,
  • To promote the visibility of on-going co-operation between actors from South East Europe and programme countries,
  • To provide support and expertise in all issues related to the involvement and promotion of Youth in Action co-operation with South East Europe.

Promoting the participation of young people from South East Europe in the Youth in Action programme

The Youth in Action programme contributes to promoting stability in South East Europe by supporting the development of youth work and promoting the development of multicultural awareness, tolerance and solidarity among young people. It thus contributes to the other efforts of the European Union and the Stability Pact towards the stabilisation and encouragement of co-operation between and with the countries of this region.

In particular, the Youth in Action programme supports the building of long-lasting partnerships and the exchange of youth work practice between groups of young people, youth organisations, youth workers, youth leaders and other actors in the field of youth and non-formal education, from different countries in Europe.

The SALTO-YOUTH South East Europe Resource Centre has been set up to promote the participation of young people and other actors in the field of youth and non-formal education from South East Europe in the Youth in Action programme. It acts as a support service for:

  • The network of Youth in Action National Agencies in the field of co-operation with SEE and
  • youth organisations, youth leaders, youth workers and other actors in the field who are interested in developing co-operation between Programme countries and Partner Countries (previously called “third countries”) in SEE.
